Areas of Practice.


Administrative Hearings.

Ms. Sandy frequently practices before the Office of Administrative Law in disciplinary appeals and pension appeals on behalf of New Jersey State Troopers and local Police Officers.


Pension Boards.

Ms. Sandy represents New Jersey State Troopers before the State Police Retirement Board, as well as local police officers before the Police and Firemen’s Retirement Board with regard to accidental disability applications and credible service appeals.


Civil Service Appeals.

Ms. Sandy also represents police officers and firefighters in Civil Service appeals regarding promotional bypasses and medical or psychological disqualifications.


Grievance Arbitrations.

Ms. Sandy represents both public sector and private sector labor unions with regard to contractual violations before arbitrators through the Public Employment Relations Commission and the American Arbitration Association.


Contract Negotiations & Interest Arbitrations.

Ms. Sandy has experience representing PBA’s in negotiations with their employers for subsequent collective bargaining agreements, as well as in Interest Arbitration. Ms. Sandy has also negotiated contracts on behalf of DPWs and other public sector labor unions.


New Jersey Appellate Court.

Ms. Sandy has extensive experience representing clients before the Appellate Division, including brief writing and oral argument.


New Jersey Supreme Court.

Ms. Sandy has filed several appeals to the New Jersey Supreme Court. She successfully argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court in a case which granted great deference to Arbitration Awards.


United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Sandy has experience drafting a writ of certiorari, petitioning review of a New Jersey Supreme Court decision to the United States Supreme Court.


Legislative Drafting.

Ms. Sandy does not limit her practice to litigation, but also analyses existing case law and drafts amendments to legislation to assist clients in receiving favorable and fairer decisions. She has worked on several amendments to legislation that have made integral changes to pension benefits affecting New Jersey State Troopers.
